Words of Thanks

Lisa Lewis

This past month, Food for the Hungry (FH) staff submitted words of thanks to FH’s Social Media Specialist Esther Martinez for 30 days of Thanks in November, featured on FH’s Facebook page.

People were thankful for a variety of blessings…God’s love, family members, jobs, nature or art. When we take a moment, we realize we have many blessing to be thankful for in our lives.

From the large to the small, any good thing we have—we can trace back to God. Here are a few highlights of some of the words of thanks from FH staff.

Day of Life

Lisa Lewis, FH’s Art Director, has been with FH for more than 30 years. This is what she said she was thankful for:

“I’m thankful for another day of life!

“I was reminded recently of how brief life is after reading an email from a coworker. It was a reminder to count my blessings daily, including the simple blessing of walking daily with Jesus and to do my utmost in service of others while I have breath.”

Gift of Peace

Ingu Kang, FH Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, does a lot of number crunching at FH. But he’s also a man who loves his family. These were his words of thanks…

“I am thankful for the protection and peace that the Lord has granted to me and my family.

“I am also thankful for the Word of God, Hosea 6:3, which says, ‘Let us acknowledge the Lord. Let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.'”

Being Among Loved Ones

Lanie Andres-Iranon, FH/Asia Region Child Sponsorship Program Advisor, works to help make sure that sponsored children are receiving the support they need to thrive. He’s thankful for being closer to home.

“I am thankful to the Lord for how He answered a prayer of mine from 2007 when I came home from working with FH in Indonesia.

“I was able to serve Him outside of my country (Philippines). But now the Lord has answered my prayer such that I’m able to work from home and spend more time starting to build our family, instead of traveling six hours daily to go to our office! Such a faithful God!”

FH staff also want to say thanks to you!
