8 Days of Giving: Day 4 – Water Filter

In this story, Jesus stopped at Jacob’s Well in the town of Samaria called Sychar and asked a Samaritan woman for a drink. This woman was an outcast in her own community and someone a Jew wouldn’t normally talk to. Something special happened on this meeting though, she became the first person in the Gospel of John to recognize Jesus as the Messiah.

8 Days of Giving: Day 3 – Vegetable Seeds

Elimelech and Naomi were Israelites who went to live in Moab during a famine. Moab was a land inhabited by people who worshipped many gods, not the one true God. While there, their two sons married Moabite women, Orpah and Ruth. When Naomi’s husband and two sons died, she pleaded with her daughters-in-law to go their own way and Orpah did. Ruth, however, wouldn’t leave her mother-in-law. She vowed to remain with her and to worship the one true God. She returned to Judah with Naomi.
